It's that time of year. We're approaching the halfway mark of 2009 and the upcoming Independence Holiday. When looking for the perfect girls outfit for your summer get together, visit Sophias Style Children's Clothing Store.
Here are some tips to throw a fun and safe 4th of July party.
*Preparation - My tip for this is..LARGE trashcans with the extra large bags in there. If you have a couple of these handy, then cleanup will be a breeze. If your local regulations allow you to light off fireworks, make sure you have a large (5 gallon) bucket of water and another filled about halfway with sand. That will help in putting out sparklers or disposing of used fireworks. You'll need chairs but when you invite people, have them bring their own chairs. One less thing for you to drag out.
*Food - well, that's an easy one. Burgers and dogs on the BBQ is the standard. You can prepare in advance the toppings and have them sitting out for the people to grab. Chips are another staple of 4th of July fun. Dessert..now that's my favorite subject. You can easily just do watermelon or even some boxes of Popsicles. A always, make sure you tell people that they can bring items to lesson the load on you. Paper plates and plastic cups are the perfect utensils for this day. You can buy them in red, white and blue to help with the party theme.
*Invites - Just give everyone a holler. Tell the neighbors, your friends your family. Don't start the party too early, everyone will be exhausted by the time the big show starts.
When the time comes, sit back and enjoy our Nation's Independence. Make sure someone is keeping an eye on the kids (both large and small)!

Rainy Day Fun | Sophia's Style Boutique Childrens Clothing Store
The old adage of "April showers bring May flowers" is so true. Unfortunately for some areas of the world, the rain never seems to end. All you parents out there know how hard a rainy day can be on the kids and parents alike. Add a toddler into the mix and you’ve got a very long day on your hands. Here are a few ways to make you rainy day fun for you and your toddler.
*Do hands on activities! Activities that include paint, rice, shaving cream, or flour may be a little messy, but are a TON of fun for the little ones! You can even make clean up game and have them help you.

*Help your toddler get on the phone and call grandparents. This is a great chance for you to get in a quick chat with the relatives and let your munchkin have some fun as well. And you know Ma and Pa are going to love it!
*Have a kitchen band concert. Wooden spoons can be used as microphones and drum sticks, pots and pans can be used as drums, and straws can be used as horns. Video tape your concert for a fun memory to relive later!
*Take a nature walk with umbrellas. Everything seems so different with the rain coming down. Ask your kids to tell you what they are experiencing with each of their fives senses. The kids will enjoy the fresh air and you’ll have a chance to get in a little exercise.
Remember that patience is the key. If you’re upset and restless your toddler will be too. Just relax and have fun! Enjoy the chance to make some new memories! While you're stuck inside, why not visit SophiasStyle Childrens Clothing Store to browse our full inventory. We have boutique fashion at discount prices. We've recently lowered our prices for girls spring clothes, so you can buy more and not feel guilty!

Sophia's Style Fit Tip | Bedtime Rituals | Sophia's Style Boutique
We all know how important a good night sleep is to adults. We can't function without one and then we use coffee and other caffeine products to get us through the day. Children are no different. They need a good night sleep. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine states that infants need 14-15 hours per day, toddlers 12-14 hours, preschoolers 11-13 hours and school-age children 10-11 hours per day. They state that some of the side affects of not enough sleep on elementary children are attention problems, dulled memory, hyperactive behavior and of course the meltdowns. Here are some hints to help you help THEM get the sleep they need.
Routines Rule! Your bedtime regimen may sometimes feel like the movie Groundhog Day, but all the repetition is worth it. Not only do nighttime rituals help children transition to a more relaxed bedtime mind-set, but allowing kids to know what to expect helps them feel in control. Create a routine that works best for your family, and even if it means starting an hour before bedtime, make sure you allow enough time for each task. These tasks can include doing a quick pickup of toys, warm bath, warm PJ's, brush teeth, story...etc. End each night on a positive note. For newborns to toddlers, you can create a routine similar to above. A warm bath, warm jammies, bottle and a little cuddling before putting to bed.
There are definite NO-NO's. Habits that need to be broken, that may be wrecking their sleep. Make sure that the child does not watch TV, play video games or use computer at least 30 minutes before bed. For newborns to toddlers, this could be no "running through the house" or giggle play. Just a wind down, maybe some soft music playing, story time or more cuddling (can't get enough of that).
Using some of these hints will help you help your child to a calm and cozy bedtime. Visit SophiasStyle.com Children's Clothing Store to browse our inventory of girls pajamas. Our selection is great and our prices are discounted.

School's Out Party | Sophia's Style Boutique Children's Clothing Store
That old song "School's Out for Summer" will be playing on many radio stations soon. Why not plan a party for your kids around that theme? It's pretty easy to do and will be a great kickoff for summer vacation.
Have your kids tell their friends that they're invited and for them to wear outside play clothes. Set up tables or blankets outside in the grass. If you could find the cute plaid blankets, it would add to that picnic theme.
Food - make it simple...burger and hot dogs on the grill, potato chips and bottled water. For dessert, you can find watermelon a good choice or maybe Popsicles. Cheap and easy. Make sure you load up on napkins and wet wipes and pull that big trashcan out for all the trash.
Games - pull out a couple of play balls..start up a soccer or volleyball game. Get out the Frisbee (if you can get it away from the dog) and have an area for that. The weather will probably not be warm enough for water balloons or squirt guns, but if it is...go for it!
Make sure you have the camera handy and get some fun candid pictures. Your children will love them, as alot of the times children are out of pocket during the summer due to daycare, vacations, etc.
Since you're in the kick-off-summer mood, visit SophiasStyle.com children's clothing store. You can shop our designer deals for summer at discount prices. Pick out that perfect swimsuit or fun pair of sandals. Maybe even start shopping for back to school (but don't tell the kids you're doing that already!).
Have fun planning your party. As always, make sure to share your tips, hints and stories with me. All you have to do is click here. I'd love to hear from you!

Sophia's Style Girls Clothing Store | Fit Tip
Jen
Summer is coming pretty fast! When we think of summer, we think of a cold glass of lemonade. Our fit tip this week is to help your child make the transition to a healthy summer by switching from sugary sodas or powdered drink mixes to good old fashioned water. Water makes up about 80% of the brain and is an essential element in neurological transmissions. Poor hydration adversely affects a child's mental performance and learning ability. This is an easy fix...grab some reusable water containers at your nearest discount store. Wash them up and have a special cabinet for them. Easy for you or the kids to grab, fill with ice and cold water. You can even pre-fill them with water and store them in the fridge. Much cheaper than buying cases of bottled water. Grab and go!
When you drink is also important. If you're going to sports practice, a game, or just working out or playing hard, drink water before, during, and after playing. Don't forget your water bottle. You can't play your best when you're thinking about how thirsty you are!
With summer coming, it's time to visit SophiasStyle.com children's clothing store for the latest in girls summer clothes. You can find the cutest girls swimwear at discount prices.
We've made the choice in my family to cut out sodas and only drink water and milk. I'll keep you updated on our process. Share your stories, tips and questions by Clicking here.
