Communion Dresses/The significance and Importance of Communion Dresses

As a parent you play a influential role in helping your little girl choose a beautiful First Communion Dress. The dress will help her understand the significance and the importance of the event. What she wears on this day will make her feel very special and may even be worn by family members for generations to come.
Let's talk about the significance of First Communion Dresses. A Communion Dress is always white. The white symbolizes the purity of the soul, which has been cleansed of sin. For that reason, the dress should be delicate, simple and modest. The dress you select should convey innocence. A white veil may also be worn as a symbol of the tablecloth used at the last supper. You can find a variety of communion dresses and communion accessories at SophiasStyle.com.
Before the right communion gown is chosen you will want to consider what the current trends are for first communion attire. You will also want to follow the guidelines set before you by your parish. Make sure gloves, veils, sleeveless or cap sleeves, tiaras, and or headpieces may be worn. After you have established the look that will be sufficient for you, your little angel, and your church visit SophiaStyle.com and begin piecing together the perfect First Holy Communion outfit.

Girls Holiday Dresses and Hair Trends

Check out whats in for little girls holiday dresses and hair styles this season!

Half Up and Half Down - A play full look that will leave her looking as pretty as she feels. Simply curl hair with a 1" curling iron all over. Separate hair into two sections. Leaving the bottom section alone, tie top section back. Use either a cute holiday hair bow from SophiasStyle.com or bobby pins.
Long Studded Curls- A cute style that will never go out! Curl hair starting in the nape section first and work your way up to the top of the head. The curls should be done with two different size curling irons. Alternate curls as you work through each section. Once curling is complete, simply run hands through curls to loosen and go.

All That Glitters- Use an accessory that will ensure she will be the Belle of the Ball. You can use either of the two above styles and just add to it by using a rhinestone comb, clip, or tieback.

Add A Headband- Keep her looking like a little princess. Use a head band to instantly dress her up,or create a more polished look.

With stylish elegance and one-of-a-kind designs, our girls holidays dresses from SophiasStyle.com are just the right choice for the above hair trends. SophiaStyle.com offers a huge selection of Christmas Dresses that will truly compliment your little girls style!

The True Meaning of Christmas

Tis the season for sending out Christmas cards, shopping for Christmas dresses, and lots of fun activities that keep us all loving this time of year. With all of the hussel and bustle of the holidays and weeks of preparation, it is very easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas and how important it is to teach our children that Christmas is not all about Santa Claus and his eight tiny reindeer. Here are my ideas for keeping the meaning of Christmas alive while still participating in the activities that bring us all so much joy.

A good way of teaching your children the meaning of good ole December 25th is to read them the Christmas Story. The story tells the remembrance of the birth of baby Jesus and the journey that the Virgin Mary and her husband Joseph made on a donkey to Bethlehem. They were denied lodging at every inn. The family eventually settled into a manger, where the Mary gave birth to her son without the help of a physician. Although this story is based on Christian faith it may help answer questions your child may have regarding the holiday, or give them a sense of meaning for Christmas and the reason for the celebration.

The Internet may also be a great way for helping your children to understand the true meaning of Christmas. Northpolesantaclaus.com is a great web page for kids to explore during Christmas time. It has a link for the kids to email Santa Claus if they so choose, but there are also web pages that they can go to learn about the ways that children in other countries celebrate their Christmas holiday, including the different versions of Santa Claus that they incorporate into their celebration.

So whether you are wrapped up in shopping for cute gifts for girls or searching for the perfect Christmas dress for your little angel remember Christmas has many meanings...you choose.

How To Take Great Pictures of Children

Click here for girls clothing at SophiasStyle.com
As many of you parents know children grow up so quickly. It may seem like only yesterday you were holding him or her in your arms, but from baby to toddler and toddler to child time seems to pass in a blink of an eye. They grow and change and although we have no control over this, we can hold on to these memories in pictures. Pictures that will last and last and create memories for many generations to come.
Although we all may not be professional photographers taking a simple picture can be fun and easy. Whether you are taking the photo for a special occasion or you are snapping shots for fun, here are some good tips that will help you take great pictures of children.
1.Get Close and Slow Down
The biggest and most common mistake people make is not getting close enough to the subject that they are trying to capture. Don't be afraid to step up and fill the entire frame with the most important information. Carefully compose the scene and wait for the perfect opportunity to take your picture. Don't rush through this, remember you are creating priceless photographs.
2. Be aware of all angles.
A simple change in perspective will help you create the best photo. Try shooting from a higher angle, this will help you stay away from obstacles that may have a negative affect on your work. Also if you are taking a candid or a spontaneous picture, you may be able to get a better angle by moving either to the right or left. For a more natural view of you little one try kneeling down.
3.Timing is Everything
Always keep in mind the time of day. Try to shoot photographs within one hour after sunrise and inside of an hour before sunset. The natural lighting is warm and soft during these times. You might also consider looking at the light yourself to determine how it will affect your picture. Is the light flat? Where is the light coming from? Are there harsh shadows? Overcast days are said to be the best days to photograph on, the intensity of the film increases, therefore making the colors in your prints and slides look more intense. Avoid taking pictures in the middle of the day, the light at this time is much to bright and will create muted colors and uneven skin tones. Also be sue to set your camera to the appropriate setting. You can find information on your camera in the owners manual.
4.Take lots of Pictures
Most of the time you won't get the exact shot or pose on the first try. I recommend that you take several photographs, in different lighting, or other changes to make sure you get a good one. The more pictures you take the more practice you will have and as the saying goes. Practice makes Perfect!
5. Comfortable Clothes and Girls Clothing.
There is nothing worse than stuffing your child into an uncomfortable piece of clothing. This will set the stage for the photo session and it may become the reason for fussing, whining and non participation. Make sure the tags are removed and the fabric is soft, that way there will be no rubbing or discomfort. Try SophiasStyle.com for a huge selection of comfortable and cute girls clothing.
Your on your way! You have learned the simplicity of how to take great pictures of children. Have fun and be creative and you will truly make memories one picture at a time.

Toddler Girls Clothes | Find Cute Toddler Clothing at SophiasStyle.com

Click here for the Baby Gassy Gooma toddler girls outerwear white winter jacket at SophiasStyle.com
Buy toddler girls clothes direct from SophiasStyle.com baby girls clothing store.
Toddler girls clothing includes sizes 2T, 3T and 4T. Generally, a 2T fits a 2 year old, a 3T a 3 year old and a 4T a 4 year old girl. However, sizing varies as much for little girls as it does for women. SophiasStyle.com has a general toddler girls sizing chart, and we also include specific garment measurements for each item in the description for most toddler girls clothing. If you are using garment measurements, it is a good idea to measure your little girl, and then make sure the garment measurements are 1 to 2 inches larger than her actual body measurements for a comfortable fit. Remember, little girls are always growing, so it is usually advised to buy larger rather than smaller.
Sophias Style has cute toddler girl clothes which are not only comfortable, but affordable, as well. We sell our girls toddler clothing online for 10-70% below the suggested retail value, saving you valuable time, money, and well, your sanity (really, how fun is it to shop in a mall with an active toddler!). Sophias Style accepts returns, as long as the garment is in its original condition, with the tags still attached. Simply email SophiasStyle for an easy return label which you can print from your computer and mail from your own mailbox. We ship all toddler girls clothing within the US for free, and we always are willing to help you shop...send us an email or call anytime. We love to help!

Girls Special Occasion Dress | Special Occasion Dresses for Christmas, Easter and More

There are lots of reasons for a girl to need a special occasion dress, but finding a boutique that has the variety that a mother needs can be difficult. I tallied the number of times that I bought a girls special occasion dress in the past year, and the total may surprise you.
Of course we had to get a Christmas dress that was as beautiful as the season and also an Easter dress that was as glorious as spring flowers. One of my daughters needed a dress for her first communion and also needed a flower girl dress for a wedding that she was asked to be a part of. We needed a dress each for a family picture and birthday dresses are a must for my girls. We wore dresses for the New Year and we needed a pageant dress for my Fashionista. That’s a lot of girls special occasion dresses!
SophiasStyle.com is the perfect one stop shop for all of your special occasion dress, accessory, and shoe needs. Having an online boutique that we can depend on for all of our formal requirements gives us much more time to enjoy the wonderful occasions that we get all dressed up for!

Girls Christmas Dresses Online | Buy her Christmas Dress Online this Holiday Season

Click here for the Lito Christmas dress at SophiasStyle.com boutique girls clothing store.
Shop Christmas dresses at SophiasStyle.com >
Christmas is on its way again and it brings with it the feeling of holiday cheer. Decorations are popping up everywhere and my daughter is delighted to see Santa, reindeer and twinkling lights everywhere we go. Mom and Dad’s know that the season also means lots of shopping (in mobs of people, no less), needing to be twelve places at once, and obligations filling every moment to spare. In other word, the holidays bring a certain amount of stress for adults.
For example: My neighborhood hosts an annual holiday party that is the highlight of the year for many of the local children. Little girls get all decked out in their finest Christmas dresses and boys in little suits. The banquet hall is decorated, Santa pays us a visit, and everyone dances until they can no longer stand. It really is quite the occasion and a lot of fun for the whole family. The only snag in the festivities was finding a girls holiday dress.
With everything else that was piled on my list of things to do, I was delighted when a friend suggested buying a Christmas dress online. She reminded me that dragging a little girl through crowded stores was not only a pain, but completely unnecessary with the wonderful online shopping that’s available today. We managed to find an adorable holiday dress at an online boutique that was perfect. We also managed to find dress shoes and hair accessories to match the dress at the same boutique. We did all of our shopping from the comfort of home.
With the hustle and bustle of the holidays quickly approaching, I am happy to pass on the time saving advice that another mother gave to me. Buy a Christmas dress online and avoid the stress of the stores. Trust me, it makes for a very Merry Christmas.

Baby Car Seat Crying | Tips to Quiet Babies Who Cry in Car Seats

My baby girl was a car seat crier. Those mothers who have experienced it know what it feels like to refrain from strangling the mother who brags about her infant falling asleep every time they put her in the car. It’s extremely frustrating to have to stop and pull over numerous times during a trip to try and calm a screaming baby. Here are some tips that we used to make car trips a little quieter.
First of all, make sure that your baby doesn’t have an ear infection. If fussing in the car is sudden or new for your baby, the pressure in the car may be irritating the ears. You should also make sure that the car seat is the appropriate size for your baby.
Now, what worked for us?

1. Soft car toys. We had certain toys that were only for the car. We found that taking the toys into restaurants or Grandma’s house made them lose their allure. So, the toys that we have designated as “car toys” were only for the car. Soft ones are the best choice because, in case of an accident, hard toys can become projectiles. Soft toys are safest.

2. Soft music or white noise. While it’s not my first choice of things to listen to, it’s better than a crying infant. Give it a try!

3. Give your newborn baby something to look at. There is something called The Car Seat Gallery by Manhattan Toy that works wonders. It has interchangeable pictures that you can hang from the seat in bold, contrasting colors that a newborn baby loves.

4. Finally, you want to make sure that your newborn baby girl is dressed comfortably. So many of the clothes that they sell for babies today are cute, but not very practical. Try SophiasStyle.com for a huge selection of comfortable, cute and baby girls clothing.

If your baby is a car seat screamer, remember that they will likely outgrow it before you puncture your own eardrums in self-defense. In the meantime, try some of the mentioned tricks or some of the great ones on About.com: Parenting: Babies and Toddlers to make your time in the car more peaceful.

Christmas Gifts for Girls | Personalized Christmas Gifts for Girls this Holiday Season

As the Christmas season quickly approaches, parents are toying with newer and more unique gift ideas for their daughters. Toys are easy, and usually done to death by grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other members of the family. As parents, we are always looking for something that will be treasured and make them feel special. Nothing accomplishes this feat better than a personalized gift.
For a baby girl, a personalized baby blanket or monogrammed burp cloth can be something that she can hang onto for life. A girls dress with her name embroidered on it makes a wonderful girls Christmas gift as well. For girls of any age, the choices for personalized Christmas gifts are endless: from hats to shirts, blankets to dresses, and everything in between.
If you are considering buying a personalized Christmas gift for a little girl who is not your child, you may want to ask and make sure that having the girl’s first name on their clothing is okay with her parents. Some parents are not comfortable with this, but would welcome a beautifully monogrammed gift in its stead. Either way, a personalized Christmas gift is the perfect way to say: this is especially for you, from me, with love!

Stress Free Christmas | Tips for a Stress Free Holiday Season

Click here for baby girl Christmas dresses at Sophias Style.
The holiday season can be extremely stressful. They add an extra million things to our already very crowded to-do lists. Sometimes we forget to enjoy the season and just feel overwhelmed. But, there are a few things that you can do to simplify the season.
  1. Shop Online for Gifts - Buying gifts online is not only convenient; it's smart. You can compare prices and find the best deals without fighting the crowds.
  2. Shop Online for Christmas Duds - Finding holiday finery for your children is a hassle when you have to drag unwilling young ones from store to store. You can find gorgeous girl's Christmas dresses online and save yourself the headache.
  3. Simplify your Gift Giving - Magazine subscriptions, event tickets, and gift cards to restaurants make great staple gifts for the people on your list that are hard to buy for. Also, consider wrapping a few token gifts such as chocolates, cookies, or nuts in the event of a needed unexpected present.
  4. Make Christmas Dinner a Potluck - Have everyone pitch in by bringing a dish to Christmas dinner instead of taking on the whole cooking feat on your own. Assign everyone to a course and trim your workload and not just the turkey.
  5. Delegate - Can your sitter wrap gifts after the children are asleep? Can your children help with Christmas cards? Delegating a small task here and there can really add up.
  6. Relax and enjoy - The fondest memories your children will have of the holidays are the ones where you are enjoying yourself. Remember that the most important part of Christmas is family and memories and panic attacks make for very unpleasant memories!
As the holiday season approaches, be sure to check out the enormous selection of girls holiday dresses and girls Christmas dresses at Sophia Style girls clothing store!

Christmas Dresses | Baby Christmas Dresses and Girl's Christmas Dresses for the Holiday Season

Red Christmas dress at SophiasStyle.com girls clothing store.
The holiday season is the ideal time for dressing up. After all, there are parties to attend, family to visit, and countless other festivities to enjoy. A fashionable Christmas dress is almost as much a part of Christmas as the tree and it is every little girl’s desire that her dress outshine all of those wonderful holiday decorations.
See all Chistmas dresses at Sophias Style girls clothing store.
When it comes to buying baby Christmas dresses, it’s okay to go outside of the traditional darker colors that you normally associate with the holiday season. For example, Rare Editions carries a breathtaking pink dress that pairs a floral embroidered bodice in light pink with a three layered skirt in ivory, gold and pink tulle over gold satin. If you prefer the more traditional look, the Lito dress in burgundy and white is stunning, as is the black velvet and red matte finished dress by Rare Editions.
While babies take the “couldn’t care less” attitude about the way their caregivers dress them, the opposite is usually true for older girls. For a Christmas dress that will truly make your little girl look like a princess, we love the Bunny & Dino’s pink satin dress with black organza net overlay. For a more traditional look, we also love the burgundy and white dress by S Square and the beautiful brown velvet bodice and gold brushed satin skirt dress by Rare Editions.
For the parent searching for the perfect plus size Christmas dress, we found many great options to choose from. Rare Editions make an ivory satin dress with elegant black beading at neckline that comes with a matching black velvet shrug. Rare Editions also makes a beautiful dress with a black velvet top with rose appliqués and red matte satin skirt.
We are definitely finding the parameters for what makes fabulous Christmas dresses are widening, and what could be more fun? It’s getting easier to find the dress that matches your child’s personality, and a confident little girl shines brighter than any holiday light we’ve ever seen.

Girls Birthday Party Ideas | Birthday Dresses for a Princess Birthday Party Theme

When it came time to plan my daughter’s fifth birthday party, we had hard time coming up with birthday party ideas. Kera kept changing her mind about the theme. Whatever cartoon was on the time was the party she wanted. How exhausting! I was finally able to persuade my little girl that a princess birthday party was the way to go. The most convincing factor was the adorable birthday dress that would make her look just like a princess. We had a theme!
Next we sent out official invitations from the king requesting the presence of my daughter’s friends at the royal palace. We rolled parchments of paper into little scrolls and tied them with ribbon. The invitations requested that each girl wear their dressiest birthday outfits. Later the moms told me how much fun the others girls had getting all dressed up.
We decorated our “castle” with streamers and balloons in pink, purple and gold (yellow). We greeted each guest with plastic tiaras and feather boas to make them feel like royalty. After that they enjoyed tiny sandwiches and punch at the royal tea. Then they had a blast decorating princess cookies and then devouring them.
After the girls ate, they had fun playing party games like hot potato using Snow White’s poisonous apple, pin the glass slipper on Cinderella, and royal ball freeze dance. We sent each girl home with goodie bags full of plastic jewelry and other treats so that they could continue being princesses after they went back to their castles.
My husband and I both surprised ourselves with how much we were able to get into this birthday party for Kera. The theme was broad enough to allow us to get really creative and put out own twist on things. Best of all, Kera and the other girls really had a good time with all of it. Everything was a hit! Thanks to SophiasStyle and 'A Party for your Little Princess' for all of the great ideas!

Bubbles | Spring Activities for Baby, Toddlers and Little Girls

Springtime is here! It’s time to get outside and play with your toddlers while the weather is in between sweltering and shivering. An awesome activity that most toddlers enjoy is playing with bubbles. Bubble play can be fun for both you and your baby, as long you use the necessary precautions. Remember that toddlers may be afraid of the bubbles at first. I remember my daughter’s first experience with bubbles as she dodged and flinched at each one like a boxer, expecting the strange floating ball to hurt when it hit her. Take it nice and slow introducing your baby to the new activity, rather than placing them in the line of fire and then unleashing a flood of bubbles at them. You’ll also want to watch their eyes as most store bought bubbles may sting. A wonderful website for homemade bubbles that will not sting the eyes can be found at about.com.
A fun activity that you may want to try with your toddlers is bubble yoga. Bubble yoga is when you teach your baby how to pop the bubbles with different body parts (such as their elbows, knees, tummy), thereby encouraging physical fitness. If spring weather brings rain your way, you can try some of the recipes for safe indoor bubbles on the site listed in the above link. After the rain, however, get outside and let your little girls splash around in the puddles wearing the adorable print galoshes, and chase bubbles for fun and fitness!

Girls Hair Accessories for Every Occasion

Click here for girls hair accessories at affordable prices.
Shop girls hair accessories at Sophias Style
My 2-year old daughter has beautiful brown hair, so full of ringlet curls that strangers stop to compliment it. If only they knew the wild mess of a mane that she wakes up with (and that I have to tame) every morning. Every hair type has its challenges. After all, those with straight hair want curly and those with curly want straight. No matter what type of hair your little girl has, it can be managed beautifully with right hair accessories and products.

Curly hair (like my daughter’s), can be controlled by using a tiny amount of baby oil in the hair while it is still wet. Don’t use too much or her hair will look greasy and unclean. One of the great things about curly hair is how well it holds hair accessories. You can pull bangs back and to the side using barrettes, clippies, and adorable little bows. While it is important to find hair accessories (especially ponytail holders) that don’t slip, it seems more practical to most mother’s to find accessories that are easy to put back in. Any determined little girl will remove her hair accessory in the car and mom needs to be able to put it back in her daughter’s hair quickly so that she can forget about it again and hopefully leave it be for awhile.
Mother’s with daughters with fine, straight hair have the opposite complaint. Hair accessories just won’t stay put and seem to slip out the moment you have them perfectly placed. A tiny bit of mouse or gel will help with keeping barrettes and clippies where you put them. You might also try braiding the hair at night for added texture. Another option is styling your daughter’s hair in a ponytail and accompanying the ponytail holder with a matching barrette or clippy. Headbands and hairbands also tend to work well on little girls with fine hair.
No matter the type of hair that your daughter has, every mother wants it to look beautiful. The right hair accessory can do just that and are a mother’ best friend when it comes to hair maintenance. There are great hair accessories available for every plausible occasion and that will work with every hair type…if you know all of the tricks.
SophiasStyle specializes in baby girl clothes, girls clothing and girls accessories.

History of Father's Day

You know what they say…any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad. Anyone with a special dad in his or her life can attest to that. How did it come to be that Father’s Day became the national day to celebrate great fathers everywhere? The history of Father’s Day is truly a heartwarming story.
It all started with a woman named Mrs. Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington. She had just attended a service at her church celebrating Mother’s Day shortly after it originated. She felt as though her outstanding father deserved celebrating as well. Mrs. Dodd’s father was a civil war veteran who raised six children all by himself after his wife died giving birth to their youngest child. After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man.
Mrs. Dodd approached her minister about having a service for fathers on her own father’s birthday, June 5th. This date did not give the minister much time to prepare, so he ended up delivering a sermon on fathers a few weeks later, on June 19th.
From that point on, the state of Washington celebrated Father’s Day on the third Sunday in June. States and organizations began lobbying Congress to declare an annual Father's Day. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson approved of this idea, but it was not until 1924 when President Calvin Coolidge made it a national event to "establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations." But it took until 1966 before the 3rd Sunday of June got the official presidential stamp of Father’s Day by President Lyndon Johnson. Since then, fathers had been honored and recognized by their families throughout the country on the third Sunday in June.
Even though Father’s Day overall may seem less sentimental than Mother’s Day, it is equally important to show the special father figures in your life how much they are appreciated. Anyone that has made an impact (grandfather, stepfather, uncle, brother) deserves recognition for the wonderful things that they do!

Designer Clothing for Little Girls Featuring Chicken Noodle

Chicken Noodle at SophiasStyle Girls Clothing and Baby Girl Clothes Store.
When I found out that I was having a little girl, I imagined playing dress-up with her each and every day. I imagined that I would buy her baby girl clothes and fun hair accessories and doll her up until I heard “oohs & awes” coming at me from every direction. Then I had my little girl and found out how hard it is to find practical baby clothes.
I have tried every department store that you can imagine and have only succeeded in finding outfit that are semi cute, and incredibly uncomfortable on my little princess. It is worth it to me to spend a little bit more on her wardrobe to make sure that her clothing fits her comfortably. Thanks goodness I found Chicken Noodle clothing and other designer baby clothes online.
When you think of “designer baby clothes”, the first thing that might come to mind is the expense. Actually, you’d be surprised at the wonderful value of brands like Chicken Noodle. They fit in a way that allows your child to move and grow. They are also such great quality, that they won’t fall apart a little bit of rowdy play or a few washings. In the end, you definitely come out on top.
I love Chicken Noodle clothing because they are functional as well as adorable. They have capri-sets and dresses that work for both everyday play and dinner out with the family. The materials that they are made out of are stretchy and soft; they feel good against my daughter’s skin. Parents looking for fun, whimsical styles in all kinds of fun colors should check out designer girl clothing boutiques such as SophiasStyle.com. All of their Chicken Noodle styles are on sale right now!

The History of Mother's Day

Click here for the Mother's Day Sale at SophiasStyle.com girls clothing store.
Motherhood is one of the most difficult and thankless jobs known to mankind. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a working mother, there are never enough hours in the day to do all the things that are required of the queen of the castle. It is a wonderful thing that our families set aside one day a year to celebrate you and all that you do. Have you ever wondered about the history of Mother’s Day?
Julia Ward Howe suggested that there be a celebrated day for mothers in 1872. She also happened to write the words to the Battle hymn and held an organized meeting of mothers in Boston, Massachusetts every year. Anna Jarvis picked up where Julia left off in 1907. She convinced her mother’s church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mother’s Day on the second anniversary of her mother’s death (the 2nd Sunday of May). The following year, Mother’s Day was celebrated in Philadelphia as well.
Anna Jarvis and several supporters organized a campaign to write to ministers, businessmen and politicians to try and establish a national Mother’s Day. In 1910, she finally made it happen in her home state as the governor proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. A year later, all of the other states joined in by celebrating their mothers on what President Woodrow Wilson would officially proclaim as the national holiday of Mother’s Day in 1914.
Anna Jarvis pushed for a day to honor her mother who had passed away and all mothers who are deserving of a day of celebration for all that are and all that they accomplish each and every day. We have her and Julia Ward Howe to thank for our breakfasts in bed, homemade cards, and all of the other wonderful things that our families do for us to make our jobs worth it! So Happy Mother’s Day to you!

Flower Girl | Tips to Make the Wedding Day Fun and Smooth for the Flower Girl and Bridal Party

For most mothers, when their little girl is picked to be someone’s flower girl for their wedding, the honor of being chosen is quickly replaced with the terror that their little angel will ruin the whole ceremony. Will she be good, stand still, run around like a banshee while screaming at the top of her lungs? The best thing to calm mom’s and the flower girl’s nerves is to be prepared. Here are some tips.
You want to make sure and talk with your daughter in advance about what is expected of her. Bring it up on occasion so that she can get used to the idea. It is also beneficial to purchase the flower girl dress in advance to leave time for any alterations. Just a tip: shopping for flower girl dresses at department stores is a nightmare for every mother I have ever talked to. Most mothers find the best flower girl dress choices at reputable online vendors such as SophiasStyle.com. Make sure that the dress fits the flower girl comfortably before the wedding.
The flower girl should definitely be present for rehearsal so that she can practice her duties. Flower girls usually walk directly in front of the bride in the processional and in front of the maid of honor in the recessional. If your daughter is younger, it may be best to have her come and sit with the family after she walks down the aisle. If she is older she may stand near the bridesmaids during the wedding ceremony.

On the day of the wedding, I recommend making light of the flower girl’s responsibilities as a whole. If you continue to harp on what she is supposed to do, she may get nervous and act out. By this time, she knows what is expected. Ask her if she needs any reminders and then let things unfold. Also, no sugar before the wedding!

When the bride chose your daughter to be her flower girl, she knew her age and level of capabilities, so try not to stress if she doesn’t do things exactly as you would have her do. Little girls will be little girls, whether they are in flower girl dresses or jeans. So if your little girl freezes or starts running around, grab her hand and lead her quickly to your seat. I can guarantee that you won’t have the first, or last, flower girl gone wild! Just prepare the best you can, and everything will work out fine!

Baby's First Birthday Party | Birthday Dress, Gift and Party Ideas

Click here for birthday dresses and accessories at SophiasStyle.com.
What an exciting milestone the 1st birthday is for your little one. Whether you choose to have a quiet family celebration or a great big bash, the first birthday is a time to mark your baby’s transition from infant to toddler. The birthday party should be enjoyable for baby and adults alike.
The best advice that I have come across as far as 1st birthday planning is to make sure and plan around naptime. For my daughter’s first birthday, we planned a lunch without taking into account the fact that she eats early and naps from eleven to one or two. She was very unhappy towards the end and I had to put her down to sleep before she got a chance to open her gifts. In my case, afternoon or early evening would have worked better for her schedule. It’s a good idea to keep the party under two hours, regardless, as babies tend to get overwhelmed if it goes much longer than that.
You can find a barrage of first birthday party themes and ideas in party stores and online. We went with a Baby Einstein theme and dressed my little girl in the cutest birthday dress and princess birthday hat from SophiasStyle baby girl clothing store. Finger foods usually work well if you are serving food, especially for little ones!

The highlight of 1st birthdays is often the cake. If you mention that the cake is for a first birthday party when you order it from the baker, oftentimes they will throw in a tiny cake just for the birthday girl or boy to tear into. Make sure that you have your camera ready for this, moms & dads. These are the pictures that will be fun to pull out in the teen years.

First birthday gifts can range from cute baby clothes to toys. Riding toys are a very popular gift, as are imagination toys. It is a good idea to keep in mind the main thing that you have learned from your baby’s first year of life – babies are unpredictable. Keep things casual and low-maintenance for your child’s first birthday so that you and baby can enjoy and celebrate their special day.

Healthy Baby Attachment | Bonding with Your Newborn Baby

Find newborn baby clothes at SophiasStyle girl's clothing store.
When a mother has a new baby, she pictures herself falling in love immediately with the tiny bundle of joy. The hours of strenuous labor melt away as she holds and coos at the infant and imagines the endless joy that will result from being a new parent. But in reality, attachment to a newborn doesn’t always happen immediately. Pregnancy is stressful, and labor is definitely no walk in the park. The outcome is an exhausted and stressed out mother that has a newborn baby that needs almost constant care. Attachment to your baby may not come as naturally as you like…and that’s okay. But, there are some tips that may help you along.

Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to form healthy baby attachment. If breastfeeding is not for you, then make sure that you hold your baby close and give them plenty of eye contact while feeding them. Eye contact is your newborn’s first experience with communication. Speaking of communication, talk and read to your baby. Play games such as patty-cake and peek-a-boo. Communication is the beginning of understanding and trust for infants and is very important for their development…and your motherly development as well.

Another trick is to use a sling or baby front carrier when doing things around the house. Touching and closeness are both extremely important in your babies’ healthy growth and development.

Remember that being a new mother is exhausting. You will not be able to finish the same amount of housework and errands that you were able to complete before you gave birth for some time. Give yourself a break and try some time savers. Shop online for baby girl clothes. Take the help that your mother-in-law offers. Quiet the inner neat freak that can aggravate exhaustion and make bonding more difficult.

Keep in mind that forming an attachment to your baby is both a complex and personal experience…and it may take time. If you are careful to make sure that your infants basic needs are met, then he or she won’t suffer if the bond takes a little extra time to form. If you find that you are still struggling by the time you take your infant to their first well-baby check-up, discuss it with the doctor. You may be suffering from postpartum depression, which is absolutely treatable and more common than you may realize.

Having a newborn baby can be a wonderful and joyous occasion, but everyone’s experience is different. You just have to find what works best for you and your baby. One of the best things that you can do for your own sanity is talk to other new mothers about their feelings and experiences. It’s encouraging to know that there is a world full of other imperfect mothers out there just like us…just doing their best!
